With a score made up of Cole Porter classics and a cast that includes three of the century's greatest male singers (Sinatra, Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong), High Society is an irresistibly tuneful concoction. And if a lineup of songs that includes "True Love," "Well Did You Evah" and "You're Sensational" isn't enough, the musical reinvention of Philip Barry's play The Philadelphia Story also boasts Grace Kelly's final acting performance.
SYNOPSIS:
There was certainly no love lost between Frank Sinatra and the tabloids - but in this remake of The Philadelphia Story, Sinatra plays Mike Connor, a tabloid reporter who blackmails his way into covering the wedding of socialite Tracy Lord (Grace Kelly) to a social climber clearly less suitable than her jilted first husband, musician C.K. Dexter Haven (Bing Crosby). Connor starts falling for Tracy, too, leading to a love triangle in which the dueling suitors can pitch their woo via a batch of classic Cole Porter songs.
