About This Gallery
Sometimes he got it in one take; sometimes he worked tirelessly to put on tape what he heard in his head. The recording studio was Sinatra’s home turf, where he made his art and gave birth to his legend.
Sinatra recorded Cole Porter’s “Night and Day” six times between 1942 and 1977, but the 1961 version on Greatest Love Songs marks the only time he sang the song’s opening verse.
