I remember being given the privilege to stay up late one night,to see Sinatra on the Tonight Show. This must've been in the mid,late 60's as I was in High School @ this time. The interesting thing about his appearance was that he would do the show with 2 songs because Joey Bishop was sub-hosting the show. Frank might've felt comfortable doing the show with someone he knew intimately,which maybe wasn't the case with Johny Carson,so he did the show with Bishop as host.
