My understanding is that he kept his generosity very private. The people and lives he affected has to be incredible. I think we will never know just how many people he helped in life.
His singing and style inspired many artists until today.

Yes indeed - and I think both things combined (i.e., being generously helping many, many people *privately* without making any fuss out of it, AND being through his craft as an artist inspiring to many other artists, who openly say so today) are quite the essence of Sinatra.
