Great article that finally gives Frank's album, In the Wee Small Hours (1955), its rightful due, listing it as one of the five greatest concept albums of all-time. It's GREAT to see Frank getting recognized for the true great composer/singer that he was ... long live Frank!! Check it out ....

frank's Thematic Albums

If you think about it,many of Frank's albums'songs are related to each other thematically.I not only look @ "Come Fly With Me"(Larry King's favorite Sinatra album),but "Only the Lonely","Close to You","Where Are You" & later on "September of My Years," "A Man alone" & 'Watertown." There were so many excellent songwriters in Frank's time that he could put together an album by diverse composers with still having a common theme."In the Wee Small Hours" is a prime example,as you said.Plus Frank had so many songs well-written to choose from, hence the reality of a theme album went back to the mid,late-fifties as the ballad album.

It was funny to see this thread.....the loveliest gift that I received for Christmas this year (aside from the gifts from my young son) was a gorgeous framed print of this album cover!

I had actually never seen it (or heard of it for that matter!) so it was a lovely surprise.

Now, I am just trying to figure out the perfect place to hang it?????? Possibly bedside smile (Mama didn't raise no fools smile )
